When “Springtime for Hitler”, a broadway show that Max Bialystock (Nathan Lane) and Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick) produced hoping that it was a sure fire flop, (you can make more money with a flop than with a hit) is a hit, Leo takes off with the 2 million dollars that was raised to make the play and Ula, the Swedish bombshell blonde, and runs to Rio leaving Max holding the bags and the illegal account books. When Max goes for his court date, Leo returns and both are sent to Sing Sing for five years along with Franz Liebkin, Neo Nazi and writer of Springtime for Hitler. However, in prison, Franz writes a play called “Prisoners of Love” and Max and Leo teach it to the in-mates. The government hears of the play and pardons Max, Leo, and Franz of all their crimes making them free to go. Leo and Max produce “Prisoners of Love” on Bradway, legally this time and Leo and Max sing about how important to a show the producers are and they walk off with their arms on each others shoulders.
