Plot Summary:
Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are reunited with director Martin
Campbell in Columbia Pictures’ epic adventure "The Legend of Zorro."
The year is 1850 and our swashbuckling crusader is challenged by the most
dangerous mission of his life.
After fighting to help
California become the 31st state of the Union, Zorro (Antonio Banderas) must
live up to the promise he made his wife, Elena (Catherine Zeta-Jones) — to
give up his secret identity and live a normal life as Alejandro de la Vega.
When he hesitates, it threatens to tear them apart.
Now, the same forces that
conspired to keep California from becoming part of the United States are
plotting to unleash a threat that has been 500 years in the making, a threat
that could change the course of history forever.
And only Zorro can stop
it.

Short Version:
Zorro Kills Armand by tying him to the train and crashing it.Zorro and Elena get back together and he goes off on another mission.

Long Version:
Turns out Elena divorced Alejandro because the two men who had seen Zorro unmasked in the beginning of the film blackmailed her, wanting her to get close to Armand and find out what he’s up to otherwise they will expose who Zorro really is. Elena pretends to accept Armand’s marriage proposal so she can snoop around his place for information. Alejandro starts investigating as well and finds out Armand intent to use explosives to prevent California becoming part of the Union. Alejandro and Elena discovers what each is up to and makes up. Armand’s right-hand man becomes suspicious and ends up killing the 2 men whom Elena is helping, so Armand kidnaps Elena and her son, Joaquin. Armand then finds out Zorro is Alejandro. He decides to let his men kill Alejandro, so he takes Elena and Joaquin away on a train that is carrying the explosives. Alejandro/Zorro kills the men, and catches up to the train. He fights Armand while Elena fights Armand’s right-hand man. Zorro and Elena ends up tying Armand to the front of the train and with help from Joaquin and Zorro’s horse, Armand is killed when the train explodes. California becomes part of the Union. Alejandro and Elena gets remarried. The town bell signals for Zorro’s help. Elena tells him to go and he rides off into the sunset.
