Red Eye

Plot Summary:
From director Wes Craven (the "Scream" trilogy)
comes "Red Eye", a suspense thriller at 30,000 feet.
Lisa Reisert (Rachel
McAdams) hates to fly, but the terror that awaits her on the night flight to
Miami has nothing to do with her fear of flying.

Moments after takeoff,
Lisa’s seatmate, Jackson (Cillian Murphy), menacingly reveals the real reason
he’s on board: He is an operative in a plot to kill the Deputy Secretary
of Homeland Security…and Lisa is the key to its success. If she
refuses to cooperate, her own father will be killed by an assassin awaiting a
call from Jackson. Trapped within the confines of a jet at 30,000 feet,
Lisa has nowhere to run and no way to summon help without endangering her
father, her fellow passengers, and her own life. As the miles tick by,
Lisa knows she is running out of time as she desperately looks for a way to
thwart her ruthless captor and stop a terrible murder.

Lisa is forced to move the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security (Jack Scalia) and his family from room 3825 to 4080. As the plane lands, Lisa tells Jackson about the scar near her chest. She was raped two years ago at knife point. She tells him she swore she will never let it happen to her again and then stabs Jackson in his windpipe with the pen she had been hiding, grabs his cell phone, and escapes into the airport terminal. With Jackson chasing her, she manages to get away, and steals a car outside. She uses the last of the battery power in the cell phone to call Cynthia and tell her to evacuate the hotel because the Deputy and his family are targets. Cynthia pulls the fire alarm, and everybody gets out of the hotel safely including the Deputy and his family. Lisa drives to her father’s house where she sees the assassin guy standing at the door. He shoots at her and she runs him down with the car, crashing into her father’s house. Jackson shows up, knocks out her dad, and tries to kill Lisa. Lisa manages to outwit him and even kicks his butt a few times. He knocks her around, she falls down the stairs. She grabs the assassin’s gun and shoots Jackson. He kicks the gun out of her hands and as he’s about to stab her, Lisa’s father shoots him, knocking him down, just as the police sirens are heard nearby. Lisa shows up at the hotel, the Deputy thanks her and Cynthia. The whining couple from the beginning of the film starts complaining to Lisa about Cynthia and the horrible service at the hotel. Lisa tells them to fill out a comment card and shove it. She and Cynthia walk away to get a drink (but not a Bay Breeze).
Comments…
Better than I expected except a little slow in the beginning. It wasn’t a typical Wes Craven film, it wasn’t even a horror flick. It was more like a psychological thriller/action movie. There was plenty of tension and action and very excellent acting by McAdams and particularly Murphy who plays a very convincing psycho (like he also did in Batman Begins).
