Starring: Tom Cruise (Ray Ferrier), Dakota Fanning (Rachel Ferrier), Justin Chatwin (Robbie Ferrier), Tim Robbins (Ogilvy), Miranda Otto (Mary Ann)

During many intense scenes, Ray, Rachel, and Robbie manage to escape the aliens a few times. During the trip to Boston (a very emotional scene, I might add), Robbie insists on joining the military people to help fight the aliens. Ray is forced to let him go and Robbie is presumed dead after a huge explosion. In the meantime, Ray and Rachel hide out underground with a guy named Ogilvy. During that time, they almost get discovered by the aliens a couple times. They see blood vessels everywhere outside as the aliens had sucked up a lot of humans’ blood. Ray soon learns that Ogilvy has a crazy plan to fight the aliens and wants him to join in. Fearing for his daughter’s life, Ray is forced to kill Ogilvy to save Rachel and himself. Unfortunately, Ray and Rachel gets captured by the aliens. They are put into a little cell along with a few other people who had also been captured. When the alien grabs Ray and tries to suck him into this hole, he uses a couple grenades he had found earlier and blows up the alien. For some reason, all the other aliens are suddenly dying, too. Rachel and Ray arrive in Boston and find his ex-wife and her family safe and sound, including Robbie who had survived after all. Ray and Robbie share a tearful hug. During a voiceover (narrated by Morgan Freeman), we find out the aliens had been doomed from the beginning as they had died from everyday exposure to Earth germs and bacteria (which humans and other species are immune to).
