Kingdom of Heaven
Plot Summary: Director Ridley Scott’s (director of "Gladiator")
"Kingdom of Heaven" is an epic adventure about a common man who finds himself
thrust into a
decades-long
war. As a stranger in a strange land, he serves a doomed king, falls in
love with a beautiful and forbidden queen, and rises to knighthood.
Ultimately, he must protect the people of Jerusalem and strive to keep a fragile
peace.
Starring: Orlando Bloom (Balian), Eva Green (Sibylla), Liam Neeson (Godfrey), Ghassan Massoud (Saladin), Jeremy Irons (Tiberias), Edward Norton (King Baldwin)
King Baldwin offers Balian a chance to take control of his army if he marries his sister, Sibylla. If he accepts, Guy (Marton Csokas) and his men will be executed. Balian declines the offer. King Baldwin dies and Sibylla is crowned queen with Guy as the king. Guy orders his men to kill Balian and then proceeds to go to war against Saladin’s army. Balian survives and tries to warn Guy about Saladin, but Guy foolishly dismisses him. Guy and his army end up totally defeated in the desert. Balian winds up protecting Jerusalem from Saladin’s army. Using his smarts and wit, he manages to hold them off temporarily. When Saladin offers (in exchange for Jerusalem) safe passages back home for him and the people of Jerusalem, Balian agrees and everybody cheers. He and Sybilla hook up for real (she had decided to not be a queen) and they ride away together.
