Starring: Nicole Kidman (Silvia Broome), Sean Penn (Tobin Keller), Catherine Keener (Dot Woods), Jesper Christensen (Nils Lud), Yvan Attal (Philippe), Earl Cameron (Zuwanie)

Silvia’s friend, Philippe, commits suicide. Silvia finds out from his remorseful suicide note that her brother, Simon (Hugo Speer) - her last remaining family - had been murdered along with Kuman-Kuman (who was Silvia’s former lover) and Philippe felt responsible for their deaths. The assassin, Jean Gamba (Byron Utley), breaks into Silvia’s apartment and tries to kill her, but Secret Service Agent Keller (who had been watching her apartment from across the street) runs over and kills Gamba and discovers Silvia had disappeared. She leaves a message on Keller’s machine telling him she’s going home. The next day, Motamban president Zuwanie arrives at the U.N. to give his speech (he has been accused of causing genocide in Motamba, so he has come to give his defense, hoping to avoid prosecution). Keller gets his men to try to find Silvia and keeps a watchout for the killer who is going to assassinate Zuwanie. An assassination attempt does happen, but it turns out it was all planned and staged by Zuwanie and Nils Lud (Zuwanie’s head of security) to try to boost Zuwanie’s power. Lud kills the hired would-be “assassin” to cover his tracks, but Keller catches and arrests him. In the meantime, Zuwanie is sitting in the safe room when Silvia suddenly appears from her hiding place. She puts a gun to his head and threatens to kill him (he had been responsible for many deaths in Motamba including the deaths of her parents and siblings). Keller figures out where Silvia is and goes into the safe room. He talks her out of killing Zuwanie and tells Zuwanie he’s under arrest and will be prosecuted for all the crimes he committed in Motamba. Silvia gets deported back to Africa (she has dual citizenship there) where she considers her home. She and Keller say goodbye.
