Hostage (2005)

Mars kills Kevin and Dennis and terrorizes Tommy and Jennifer, chasing them until he is locked out. He then proceeds to set the house on fire. The bad guys (disguised as the FBI) whom Walter works for orders Jeff not to step foot into the house and threatens to kill his wife (Serena Scott Thomas) and daughter (Rumer Willis) if he disobeys. They storm into the house to look for the DVD Walter had burned for them. Jeff smashes the gate and runs into the house amid the flames to save Tommy and Jennifer. Mars kills many of the bad guys. Jeff gets shot by one of them who then gets killed by Mars. Instead of killing Jeff, Jennifer, and Tommy, Mars ends up killing himself by setting himself on fire. Jeff grabs the kids and runs out of the house. Afterwards, he grabs Walter and drives to the place where his family is being held hostage. There, he tries to swap Walter for his family. Walter pretends to turn on Jeff and then shoots the bad guy leader. Another shooting spree occurs until all the bad guys are dead. Jeff rescues his wife and daughter and they, along with Walter, drive away.

Bruce Willis at his best in this action-packed film. I was glad to see it wasn’t just another “die hard” flick. It was darker and had much more drama. Very well-written and directed and superbly acted. Definitely a must-see.
