Hitch
Starring: Will Smith (Alex ‘Hitch’ Hitchens), Eva Mendes (Sara), Kevin James (Albert), Amber Valletta (Allegra Cole), Julie Ann Emery (Casey)
Sara finds out about Hitch’s job and is furious with him, thinking that he encouraged Vance (Jeffrey Donovan) to use and sleep with her best friend, Casey (Hitch actually hates Vance and refused to work for him) and that he encouraged men to hurt women. She prints an article in her gossip column exposing him along with Albert and Allegra, which causes Allegra to break up with Albert. Hitch becomes angry with Sara, saying that he only helps good men like Albert get the women of their dreams. Sara, realizing she made a big mistake, feels guilty and tries to apologize to Hitch, but he curtly turns her away. Hitch helps Albert and Allegra get back together. Turns out that even though Hitch had Albert pointers and advice, he had won over Allegra on his own. Hitch realizes his mistake and tells Sara he’s in love with her. Of course, they end up together. Closing scene ends with them dancing at Albert and Allegra’s wedding and Hitch secretly helping Casey meet a guy.

An above average, harmless romantic comedy flick with some laughs, a lot of corny lines, and a predictable ending. Though Will Smith is a fine actor, I thought Kevin James was the scene-stealer as the awkward but lovable guy who is in love with a woman who seems out of his league. One of the funniest scenes was when Hitch was trying to teach Albert how to dance. I didn’t think there was much onscreen chemistry between Smith and Eva Mendes. Overall, a decent, cute film to see with your significant other.
