Miles accidentally lets it slip to Maya that Jack is getting married on Saturday. Maya gets so angry that she refuses to speak to him. He calls her and leaves her messages, but she ignores him. Stephanie finds out about Jack’s wedding and breaks up with him, but not before breaking his nose. Miles and Jack return to the restaurant Maya works at where Jack flirts with one of the waitresses and ends up sleeping with her. Unfortunately, her husband returns home early and Jack is chased out naked without his clothes and wallet. He begs Miles to help him get his wallet back because the wedding rings are in there. Miles helps him get his wallet back and the two head to L.A. for the wedding. Along the way, Jack crashes Miles’ car to make it look like he got the broken nose from a car accident. On Saturday, Jack gets married with Miles as his best man. Miles runs into his ex-wife, Victoria (Jessica Hecht), and her new husband. They awkwardly exchange brief words and she tells him she’s pregnant. He struggles to hold his emotions in as he tells her congratulations and then walks away, skipping the reception. Sometime later, Miles returns to his boring teaching job in San Diego. Maya calls him one day, leaving a message saying she loved his novel, but didn’t understand the ending. He drives up to her house and knocks on her door.
