Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Starring: Will Ferrell (Ron Burgundy), Christina Applegate (Veronica Corningstone), Paul Rudd (Brian Fantana), Steve Carell (Brick Tamland)
Ron gets fired from Channel 4 after he swears on air and insults the people of San Diego thanks to Veronica who changed the text on the teleprompter (Ron will read anything that’s typed on the teleprompter). Everybody in San Diego starts to hate him and he becomes a bum. When the panda bear is about to give birth, Veronica is sent to the zoo to cover the big news. One of the rival station anchors, PBS newsman (Tim Robbins) pushes Veronica into the bear pit. When the Channel 4 manager, Ed Harken (Fred Willard) is unable to find her, he calls Ron back to cover the news. Ron rushes back and discovers Veronica in the bear pit with a bunch of huge bears waking up. He decides to help her instead of covering the panda bear birth. Just when things look hopeless, Ron’s dog, Baxter (whom he thought was dead), comes running and rescues everybody from the bears. Ron and Veronica both report the panda bear birth together. They eventually become co-anchors for a big news network.

I quite enjoyed watching this comedy. It wasn’t outrageously hilarious and some parts were absurd and silly, but I would give this film a good rating in terms of funny-ness. Will Ferrell was great as the narcisstic news anchor whose ego was threatened when a woman news anchor came on board. The supporting cast (Vince Vaughn, Paul Rudd and Steve Carell) were perfect as they added a whole new level of funny to the movie. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
