Day After Tomorrow, The
Starring: Dennis Quaid (Jack Hall), Jake Gyllenhaal (Sam Hall), Emmy Rossum (Laura Chapman), Dash Mihok (Jason Evans), Jay O. Sanders (Frank Harris), Sela Ward (Dr. Lucy Hall)
The snow storm takes a turn for the worst as it freezes everything in sight. The US President dies after being the last one to evacuate the White House; the severe weather finally calms down. Jack and his colleague, Jason, reaches New York and finds his son, Sam, and his friends huddled in the public library in the front of the fireplace, safe and sound. They get rescued in a helicopter, where they see a handful of other survivors in New York. The Vice President (Kenneth Welsh), who is the new US President, regretfully admits they have all taken nature for granted without thinking of the consequences and announces they have now learned their lesson. He gratefully thanks the people who have taken them in during the hard times.
Personal comments about this movie?
One of the better natural disasters movies I’ve seen. It’s a nice change from always seeing fires or volcanoes. I didn’t find Dennis Quaid that convincing as a climatologist. And why the heck would someone complain about burning library books when a huge snow storm is coming and you need fire?
