Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!
Starring: Kate Bosworth (Rosalee Futch), Topher Grace (Pete Monash), Josh Duhamel (Tad Hamilton), Nathan Lane (Richard Levy the Driven), Sean Hayes (Richard Levy the Shameless), Gary Cole (Henry Futch)
Tad Hamilton gets the part he had been wanting in the Jimmy Ing movie. He asks Rosalee to go to California with him and says he refuses to go if she doesn’t come along. At first, she says no, but then accepts after Tad tells her about her six smiles, which actually Pete had told him about. The night before Rosalee leaves, Pete finally works up the nerve to tell her he loves her and kisses her. She turns him down and decides to go with Tad. On the plane, Rosalee asks Tad which smile he sees on her at that moment. Tad fumbles, but then confesses that it was Pete who told him about her six smiles. She then realizes she has loved Pete all along and asks Tad to take her home. She goes to Pete’s place, but finds Angelica (Kathryn Hahn) there instead. Angelica tells her Pete is driving to Richmond, VA. Rosalee manages to track him down and practically runs him off the road into a road sign. She tells him he has five smiles. He asks her to dance and they end up dancing in a scene just like the end of Tad’s movie in the opening scene of this film.

A charming and sweet comedy that wasn’t too mushy or cutesy. I thought it was much better than most of the teen films these days. Kate Bosworth was adorable as Rosalee and Topher Grace is usually good at playing the “nice guy”. His character wasn’t too different than the one in That 70s Show. Josh Duhamel was good as the superstar, Tad Hamilton. I’m glad they didn’t write him off as a complete jerk. He did have some heart and he did genuinely care about Rosalee. There were quite a few funny scenes and lines. One of my favorites was “Guard your carnal treasure!”. A perfect film to watch if you’re in the mood for some good, harmless fluff.
