Love Actually

Posted by: Luna on Friday, November 14th, 2003

Starring: Hugh Grant (The Prime Minister), Colin Firth (Jamie Bennett), Emma Thompson (Karen), Alan Rickman (Harry), Liam Neeson (Daniel), Keira Knightley (Juliet), Laura Linney (Sarah), Martine McCutcheon (Natalie)

The Prime Minister and Natalie finally hook up together during a school play, kissing passionately behind a wall. The last scene shows her throwing herself into his arms at the airport and kissing him.

Jamie learns some Portuguese and leaves England to find Aurelia and proposes to her in Portuguese. Aurelia (who had also earned some English) says yes.

Billy’s (Bill Nighy) song actually reaches number one, so he strips naked on tv as he had promised; instead of going out to party with friends and celebrities, he decides to spend the holidays with his manager to show his appreciation for being a good friend to him all these years.

Karen confronts Harry about the necklace he had given to his secretary and Harry guiltily admits he did, but nothing had happened between them; at the airport, we see them greeting each other, but there is still tension and awkwardness between them.

Daniel meets Carol (Claudia Schiffer) at Sam’s school performance and there is an instant attraction between them; Daniel drives Sam (Thomas Sangster) to the airport, so he can tell Joanna (Olivia Olson) he loves her before she leaves. Turns out she likes Sam, too, and gives him a kiss on the cheek before she takes off; in the last scene, we then see Sam greeting Joanna at the airport and also, Daniel and Carol are dating.

Mark (Andrew Lincoln) finally tells Juliet how he feels about her, but she stays with her husband (who is also his best friend). This makes peace between the two of them and allows Mark to move on.

Nothing further happens again between Sarah and Karl (Rodrigo Santoro) because of her devotion and loyalty to her mentally challenged brother.

John (Martin Freeman) and Judy (Joanna Page) are engaged.

Colin (Kris Marshall) brings his beautiful American girlfriend (Shannon Elizabeth) and her sister (Denise Richards) back to England with him.
