Phone Booth
Starring: Colin Farrell (Stu Shepard), Kiefer Sutherland (The Caller/Sniper), Forest Whitaker (Captain Ramey), Radha Mitchell (Kelly Shepard), Katie Holmes (Pamela McFadden)
The caller/sniper orders Stu to tell his wife about his affair with Pamela, which he does. He then pressures him to choose who to kill, his wife or girlfriend. Stu becomes so distraught that he begs the sniper to kill him instead. Captain Ramey eventually finds out Stu is being held hostage in the phone booth by a sniper and tells the other cops to check the areas for him. To save Stu, one of the cops shoots him with a rubber bullet. The cops find a guy lying in a room with a rifle, bleeding from slit wrists. When he is brought down, it turns out to be the pizza guy (Dell Yount) from earlier in the film whom Stu was really nasty to. As Stu sits in the ambulance, drowsy from drugs, the real sniper drops by and tells Stu to watch himself or he’ll be hearing from him again. The sniper looks over at the phone booth and walks away.
Personal comments about this movie?
I found this film dreadfully boring. The beginning was terrible and sloppy (I hated the split screens) and it only got mildly exciting when he got into the phone booth. There were too many cliches and loop holes in the plot to be a good movie. The ending wasn’t all that surprising either. Colin Farrell’s acting was the only reason I kept watching this mess of a film.
