Recruit, The (2003)
Starring: Al Pacino (Walter Burke), Colin Farrell (James Clayton), Bridget Moynahan (Layla Moore), Gabriel Macht (Zack), Kenneth Mitchell (Alan), Mike Realba (Ronnie Gibson)
Walter Burke is actually the double agent, not Layla. Layla had been under CIA’s orders to steal a dangerous software program called Ice-9 which could severely damage the country’s defense systems. James accidentally kills Zack, thinking he’s a bad guy, but turns out he’s another CIA agent. James chases Layla down and grabs the copy of the Ice-9 program from her, which she had been hiding underneath her coffee mug. James takes the software program to Walter who then tries to kill him. He manages to trick Walter into confessing his plan to a bunch of other CIA agents (who had heard the whole confession on the web, thanks to James) who had initially planned to capture James by tracking his cell phone. Walter is killed by the agents. James’s name gets cleared, and he and Layla reconcile. The single star for 1990 on the list of dead agents in the CIA building implies that James’s father was a CIA agent, but the official answer is classified.
