Carl Hanratty finally catches Frank Jr. on Christmas Eve in the same Frenchtown where Frank Sr. first saw his mother. Carl takes him on a plane that flies back to New York. On the plane, Carl tells Frank his dad died. Frank starts to cry and is allowed to go to the bathroom. He manages to escape when the plane lands. He goes to New Rochelle and finds out his mother had remarried and has a daughter. The police arrives and Frank gets caught again. Carl visits him in prison and they talk about a new forgery case the FBI is working on. Frank gives him tips on how to catch a cheque forgery. Given that he’s on expert on forgery, Frank is granted his freedom in exchange for working with the FBI, assisting with forgery cases. He eventually earns many honors while working with the FBI. He gets married, has 3 kids, and has helped design anti-forgery cheques that is still currently in use today.
