Notting Hill
Starring: Julia Roberts (Anna Scott), Hugh Grant (William Thacker), Richard McCabe (Tony Crowe), Rhys Ifans (Spike), James Dreyfus (Martin)
William and Anna fall in love, but due to the frenzy media attention, it gets too complicated. The last straw is when Anna spends the night at William’s place and the media show up the next morning. She storms out of his place and don’t see each other again for a few months. Anna shows up one day at the bookstore and asks him if he would like to make a go at it again. William declines, saying that they are too different (he lives in Notting Hill, she lives in Beverly Hills). She replies saying “she’s also just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her”. She leaves the bookstore. Later, William realizes he made a mistake and with the help of his friends, he catches Anna at a press conference. He ends up asking her if under any circumstances they could become more than good friends. She replies that she had hoped they could be, but it didn’t work out that way. He then asks her if she would reconsider if he got down on his knees asking for forgiveness and she replies back saying she will not be leaving that night and will be staying in the UK indefinitely. The press go wild at the news while Anna and William smile at each. They end up marrried and the film ends with her, pregnant, lying on a park bench next to him.

A cute and likable film starring Grant and Roberts as the romantic leads. There was nothing extraordinary about the story, but a good script and wonderful acting made this movie very enjoyable to watch. I loved watching the onscreen chemistry between Roberts and Grant. Cute and romantic. A great film to see with your significant other.
