Titanic (1997)
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio (Jack Dawson), Kate Winslet (Rose), Billy Zane (Cal), Gloria Stuart (Old Rose), Kathy Bates (Molly Brown)
Jack dies after the Titanic sinks; Rose actually had the diamond all along. She drops it into the ocean. While she’s sleeping, we see lots of framed pictures of herself looking happy (which shows she kept her promise to Jack - to live her life and be happy). In a dreamlike scene, we see all the people who died on the Titanic ship smiling including Jack, who’s waiting by the clock. We see Rose walking up the stairs towards him and then they kiss, while everyone around starts clapping. We are left to assume Rose had died in her sleep and reunited with her true love in the afterlife.
Personal comments about this movie?
I loved this movie. True, it didn’t have the best dialogue or acting, but James Cameron captured the true terror people must’ve felt when the Titanic was sinking. He also portrayed an honest look at the differences between the upper class and lower class people. Not just the clothing and attitudes, but also the different reactions during the disaster. Thumbs up for this movie. Click here for a more detailed review.
